My Paris-Part 2

Here are a few more pictures from my trip to Paris.  I'm sure you will notice my sisters in many of these pictures with me.  You can check them Dalayna out at Pointing Up Blog.  Destiny blogs at a Destiny in Sight.  Make sure to visit them!

Fall Fashion in Paris

Whenever I'm traveling I find that it is so much easier to pack when I have a plan and by plan I mean color scheme or theme.  My sisters, Dalayna, Destiny and Courtney, often laugh at me, but I happen to think if they'd only follow my lead their lives would so much simpler.  Well, at least when it comes to packing.

Here are a few general principles to follow with packing for a long trip...

1.  Start with a firm foundation.
Choose a few basic clothing items that you can wear multiple times and with multiple other items.  For example, you can never go wrong with classic black pants.
2.  Add is a color or pattern.
By adding a simple, classic color or pattern you will liven up your wardrobe choices.  At the same time remember to keep it simple.  We want clothing items to be able to be worn more than one time with more than one other clothing item.
3.  Stick to the plan.
There's always going to be that temptation to take that extra pair of shoes or evening bag, but leave them behind.  If those items aren't interchangeable with multiple items in your bag, you don't need them.

I'm super excited to be traveling to Paris this week.  Obviously!  Here is a look at my packing plan.

Closing the Week

Just two months from today, I will be in Paris for the very first time.  I'm extremely excited.  I can't wait.  I've never been to Europe so you can imagine the measure of my anticipation.

As I look forward to September, I find that there is still life happening around me.  A lot of life is like this...a looking forward to the future and forgetting to enjoy the life we have right now.  It's so easy to do.  I struggle with it all the time.  But I must remember that while the future is full of possibilities, the present is full of hope.  And without hope those possibilities will never come.

I so ofter just expect to wake up one morning and find that my entire life has changed.  Like in The Little Princess when Shirley Temple wakes up to find untold treasures from her beloved India.  Yet, life is not like that at all.

We become.

In everything we do,
we think,
we say,
we become our future.

As my weekend begins, I'm choosing to become.  To become more than I am and to enjoy today.

Here's what happened on the blog this week

I cooked up an Old Fashioned Shrimp Boil and I also crafted with some sea shells.  They're now my favorite color: gold.  I wrote about writing stories with our lives and sharing them with other people.  And, on top of all that, I introduced one of my favorite companies, Noonday.  I love their products, but I also love their purpose.

Share with me your favorite post for the week.  Leave a link in the comments and I'll check it out.

Insta-Weekend

It's been something of a busy, but oh so rewarding weekend.

+ Friday was filled with a day of travel.  I went to Paris.  Ok, not really, but kinda.  (Read more  about the Paris trip here.)  But I can say positively, for certain that I will be going to Paris for real in September 2013.  I'm incredibly excited about this news.

Pam & Jim King spoke at the event.  (You may remember Pam from her guest post here.)  This event raised over $25,000 in cash and pledges for kids camps in Europe and for missionaries going to the field.

+ Saturday was filled with my kids.  (Read more about my kids here.)  They're not really my kids, but I love them very much.  This weekend was our annual Weekend Worship Workshop with the youth team.  We had so much fun!  I had so much fun!

+ Sunday was church, obviously, and the conclusion of the Weekend Worship Workshop.  God's presence showed up in a marked way this morning.  I'm so thankful when the Holy Spirit works in and through God's people to see lives changed, healed, and transformed.

That was my weekend in a nutshell.  Here are a few more pictures from the Pink N Pretty N Paris event.  Oh, what fun we had!
