Gone Too Long

Over the past year and a half I found myself staring at this blank white screen many times.  I've had an idea or a thought that I wanted to share.  I'd write a sentence or two.  I'd resource pictures.  I've even written entire posts, but I haven't published them.

Over the past months I've even made a blogging calendar.  But here I am again.  Typing and deleting and editing and cutting and pasting words.

Have you ever felt tongue tied?  Maybe that's how I feel.

I've got the words and the ideas and the images all floating around in my head, but it's this thing of sitting at the computer typing all of them out.  That's the problem.

I have this friend, Kathy Key.  She's a life coach.  (You can find out more about her life coaching here.)  Sometimes our schedules permit us to spend leisurely mornings at some breakfast nook.  A few months ago we happened to be sitting at just one of those booths when our conversation moved from professional discussion to personal goals.

I was going on and on lamenting about how I felt stuck and tongue tied and purposeless when she stopped me.  Using her life coaching skills she asked me about my ultimate goals.  I listed many goals all of which seem so impossible even now.

At that breakfast table she began to speak life to those dreams again.  At that table, she saw the potential in my dreams.  But she didn't just see my abilities or talents that make those dreams possible.  She began to give me actions to see those dreams come to pass.

So here I am.  Taking a step.  It's a couple months late, but it's still a step.

I won't reach my dreams today and probably not tomorrow and maybe not even the day after that.  But as I read and reread and delete and edit and cut and paste I can clearly see one thing.  The blank white screen has a lot of black on it.

And maybe I'm not as tongue tied as I thought.

Oklahoma Blogger Meet Up

credit: Artworks Tulsa Photography

For the last several years I have been involved in one of the coolest event ever.  As the wind starts to change and the colors on the leaves turn from green to orange, red, and brown, I make my way over to the place simple called The Barn.  On the rolling hills of the former Southern Hills Country club I find a refuge to slow down and refuel.

What is this place?  It's the Brush Creek Bazaar and it's happening this year on October 10th-13th.

Brush Creek is a benefit craft and boutique show that benefits the adolescent Teen Challenge programs for the state of Oklahoma.  Teen Challenge is a faith based program that helps teenagers and adults find an escape from life controlling issues.

At the craft show there will be speciality handcrafted vendors including paintings, jewelry, antiques.  There will be fair food and wonderful entertainment.  There will even be a kids area
where you child can play, paint pumpkins, take pictures.  They will love it and so will you.

I love this event as it is...the shopping, the food, the entertainment, the fun.  This is an event for the entire family.  But this year I'm even more excited because we are adding a blogger event.

This blogger event will be a great time to network with other bloggers.  We'll have crafting tutorials on the main stage.  We'll have special interviews.  We'll have swag bags.  Who knows? Perhaps we'll even have macrons.  I'll guess you'll just have to come to find out.

And you're invited.

In a few weeks, I'll be releasing more specific information about the event. For now I will tell you that it will be on Friday, October 10th in the mid-morning.

If you're interested in more information on the Blogger Event, fill out the google form below and info you will soon find in your email.

Spring: a Celebration of New Things

When I started blogging a little over a year ago, I remember finding other bloggers share about their tiredness of blogging.  Most of them had been blogging for about a year.  I remember reading posts with challenges to blog everyday for a month.  I never took any of those challenges up mostly because I was blogging about 4-5 times a week and was very happy with the content.  I remember thinking at the time, "What are these ladies talking about?  How can you get tired of blogging?  Blogging is one of the best outlets in the world."

I started out the new year with big plans and dreams for this little blog.  You might remember this post about my blogging values.  I believed in those values and still do.

I was determined to be a blogger who made a difference with her blog.  I wanted to change lives--to challenge and encourage women who were needed encouragement and strength.

Despite my determination to not become that blogger, I did.  I wouldn't say that I ran out of things to write or to share.  I could share my opinion all day long.  But I annoy myself, so I can only imagine what it would be like to read that.  Not fun.

I think I just grew weary.

Looking back over the last couple of months, I regret not blogging...not sharing life with other people who I've come to value.  I lost that love for connection.

For that I'm sorry.

I don't really feel that I need to ask your forgiveness for not blogging.  How conceded would that be?  How vain would I be thinking that you've just been sitting at your computer waiting to hear from me?  (Sometimes blogging and using social media makes us selfish.)

I do want to share life with you and I'm choosing to make an effort to do that.

I hope that we can reconnect and began this journey together again.

So, about that title...well, it is still spring and in spring we celebrate all new things.  We celebrate the birth of little animals.  We celebrate the earth as she awakens from her winter's sleep.  We celebrate the clean, freshness of everything.  So, today, I'm celebrating a new spring for All My Love for All My Days.  She's getting cleaned up and reborn.  And that is something to celebrate...at least for me.

Guest Post by Kristin from Tales from the Nook

Hi guys! I'm Kristin and I blog at Tales From the Nook. I'm so happy to be here today guest posting for Danette! She's a pretty rad gal :) Ya know what I really love about Danette's blog? It's REAL. And that's hard to do in the blogging world. So today I thought I'd talk about just how personal you can get when you blog.

Photobucket

I've gotten into some pretty personal stuff over at TFTN. And to be perfectly honest with you all, I constantly struggle with putting my life out there for all to read and see. Many days I think I should just stick with outfit posts and giveaways. But that's not why I started blogging, and that most likely never be what Tales From the Nook will become.

The thing about putting your heart out there and talking about the things that are hard to talk about is that you never know who you are inspiring. And it's not that I feel like I'm a super inspiring person. But, there very well could be one reader who was struggling and doesn't feel alone anymore.
Photobucket

I've connected with so many people through blogging who are going through similar struggles as I. And to me, that is such a valuable connection to make. For me, there aren't many people I can talk to in my every day life who are going through the fertility struggles that I am going through. And I've gotten emails from strangers that read my blog and wanted to just hear my story and talk about it. And that's a comforting feeling, knowing that someone you don't know IRL just wants to support you.

The same goes for my new linkup that I've bee hosting. It's called Change Your Life, and it's a weekly linkup where you can come share your progress on changing your life. It can be anything, weight loss, relationships, whatever you want to change. I'm here to support you!

So tell me, how personal do you get in blogging? Does it make you uncomfortable to talk about certain things in your blog? Do you put it all out there or keep it non-personal? Come talk to me on my blog or my twitter!
