Inside Weather Crafting

Hello, hello.

I wanted to share a craft that I finished today.  It's so simple and quite fun.

I have yet to find one person who doesn't love fall, but there is one thing about fall and winter that drives people indoors--the cold, wet wind.

The wind won't stop the beautiful colors as the magically appear, but it can drive us to our books, warm blankets, and fireplaces.

Naturally, we must have a way to mark our place in our books.  Hence the creation of this bookmark.

Here's what you need:

1.  Stamp your message onto the precut bookmark

2.  When the ink is dry, paint you design with the watercolor paint.  Experiment.  Have fun.  But the simpler the better.

3.  Make your tassel or buy one pre-made.  I chose to make mine.  I chose contrasting colors to add some interest.  Here's a link to make the tassels.  (Link)

4.  After the card stock died I went ahead and rounded the counters.  I just think it looks nicer.  I also punched the hole to run the tassel through.

5.  Run the tassel through and we're done!  Doesn't that look nice.  And you made it yourself.  There's some kind of special satisfaction that comes from that.

I had so much fun and you will too.  Take a few minutes and do this one.

What I'm Wearing this Weekend

This weekend brings a load of fun to the Tulsa, Oklahoma area and I can't wait.  Everybody knows that half of the fun is what you wear to the event.  So, when I walk onto the grounds of the Brush Creek Bazaar on Friday morning, I'm going to be styling.

I hear you.  I hear you.  What is this momentousness occasion that Danette is writing about?  Well, let me tell you.

The Brush Creek Bazaar is an event for the entire family.  It's a craft show and a children's play house with fair food and live entertainment!  To top it off, it's located on one of the most beautiful piece of real estate in Tulsa County.

If you have a chance you should stop by and do some early Christmas shopping.  (Yes, that's right.  Christmas shopping.  As a matter of fact, I bought my first three gifts last night.)  Or maybe you just need to take a break from the kids.  Let them loose in the kids area where we have supervised play time.

The Brush Creek Bazaar is located at 10900 S. Louisville Drive, Tulsa, Oklahoma, and is open on Friday from 9-6, on Saturday from 9-6, and on Sunday from 12-5.  Tickets are just $5 at the door!  Your ticket is good for all three days.  We're expecting 10,000 people on the grounds over this three day period so come early and stay late.  This is an event you won't want to miss.  Seriously.  I'm not joking.

For more info check out this link and this link (there's a video on the Facebook page).

Here's what I'm wearing.

Women's Retreat Recap

Wow.  So it's been over a week since I've been back from Branson, Missouri, where we had the Cathedral of Praise Grace Women's Retreat.  (Read more about our discussion here.)  We really had so much fun...maybe even too much fun.  There is one thing that is undoubtedly true.  God changed lives during that retreat.  I know that He opened my eyes to several things about my personality that I've got to deal with if I'm going to be all God has destined me to be.

God's like that, you know.  He reveals areas, weaknesses, ideals in our lives that are unlike His character or that don't line up with His Word, but rather than just changing us (which would be so much easier) He leaves the us with the responsibility to fix those issues.  Oh, the power of the Holy Spirit is there to lead and guide us through the changes...but ultimately the choice to change is ours to make and the steps we take are ours to walk.

So here's some changes that I'm going to be working on...
1.  Be quiet more and listen.  Don't be pushy even though you believe to the very core of your existence that you're correct.  People don't respond well to that attitude.  And, yes, you are passionate about everything, but not everyone has to be passionate about everything too.
2.  Don't be so hard on yourself and on other people.  We are all sinners saved by grace.  You sin and mess up.  They sin and mess up.  Pray for God's grace to love with His compassion.  (I've been working on this one for a while, but I still have some more work to do.)
3.  STOP PROCRASTINATING.  You don't have to be afraid.  Just do what you know to do and continue to walk in God's Word.  The steps of righteous people are ordered of God.

Below are some pics of the trip.  If you ever go to Branson, please promise you will go to the College of the Ozarks and watch them milk the cows.  It was so cool...for real. :)

Don't forget to enter the 50 Follower Celebration giveaway for a $25 Target gift card.  It ends tonight!
