Oh Yes I Did

This weekend was a weekend full of pin making challenges for me.  I was so inspired by working on my pins, I worked on some creations in my own mind too.  I hope you enjoy these crafts and possibly even make some of your own.

Here's a link to the original pin.

And here is my inversion.

The magnet additions were very easy to make.
1.  Fan fold the piece of book written paper.  (I used a dictionary that I purchased at a garage sale for $1.)
2.  Glue or affix the edges of the fan together with tape.
3.  Push the middle together and hot glue a protective circle punch
4.  Hot glue a 1 inch magnet to the protective circle punch.
5.  After I completed the book backdrop I added some sticker details.

These can be used in so many ways.  I love the fact that I can attach them to the cake stands or use them as magnets in the kitchen or office.

Have you tried anything that you've pinned recently?

One more thing.  Our very first giveaway ever will be announced this week.  Make sure you check back so you can be entered.

Mash Up Monday

So I'm just going to be ridiculously honest.

Weight Loss
I'm having an incredibly difficult time getting back on my weight loss kick.  I was doing quite good for a while but now...what's the point?  I've got to do this and do it right.

Shopping
Have you ever wanted to just go on a real shopping spree?  Well, I do want to now.  Seriously.

The Brush Creek Bazaar
I'm working on a committee for the Brush Creek Bazaar.  The Brush Creek Bazaar is a huge crafting and handmade event that raises money for Teen Challenge of Oklahoma.  I'm super excited about the event in September, but I'm slightly behind on the scheduling that I'm supposed to be doing.  I've got to get on track so that I can reach my personal goal of being done by mid-June.

Cleaning/Organizing/Completing my goals
I'm making a commitment to myself to do a better job being organized which will lead to more cleaning and completing my goals.  I'm a total cleric at work, but the minute I walk in the door my sanguine personality comes out and I'm just flying.  Don't get me wrong, I love flying... prefer it actually...but I'm an adult.  It's time to grow up.

One last thing
I CANNOT wait for Sherlock Holmes to come out on DVD.  It's left the theaters here in Tulsa.  I'm so excited.

One more thing.  This Thursday will be my Very First Giveaway Ever!  Make sure you stop back by to join in on the giveaway.  The prizes total over $40.  And it's all going to one winner!

Mom, please STOP!

Photobucket

So I had to join in on this linky party and who better than my very own Jackson?  I know this is very sad and cruel, but I never get tired of tormenting my little boy.  He pretends like he doesn't like it but I know he loves it deep down inside.

To understand this picture, you have to know that our bathroom has be completely a wreck for a week.  The bathroom and two bedrooms flooded...it was just torturous.  So here's Jackson sitting on the corner where all these loud noises are happening right below him as I work on the bathroom.

Please, Mom, please stop!

Notes from Jackson

Mom, please, I know that I'm not supposed to have chocolate, but I don't think that one bite of that one cookie you've got there will hurt me.  In fact, it maybe just what I need to go to sleep tonight.

Seriously, please.

I'll pose for a picture.  Please.  Pleeeeeeaaaaaase.

Never mind.  The allergic reaction I'm having to the new Frontline you gave me is killing me.  I can't stop itching.  Aaaaaagh!

*Poor baby. :(  Well, I've got to clean this house.  The bathroom is finally fixed and ready to be put back in order after a week of total mayhem.

Worship Band of the Week

It's true that this project has been out for a while, but sometimes it takes time to fall in love with melodies.  The words and the truth in the words never change but we do.  Our situations changes and with those changes we come to a different understanding of the emotion in the melody & harmonies.

That's where I am now.  These songs mean more to me than they did before.  I hope God uses them to bring peace and hope to you.

Hillsong's God is Able

the Joy of the Lord is my Strength

Sometimes I get on these melancholy kicks.  I don't like myself very much when I feel this way.  I don't even really know why I feel down.  (I've taken many personality tests and they ALL read that I am a choleric/sanguine...never, NEVER, melancholy.)

Maybe it's all of the great students who are graduating and moving away to college.  Even though I know that they can change the world I'll miss them so much.

Maybe it's that my house has been tore up with a bathroom repair for a week.

Maybe it was the end of the season for Criminal Minds.

Maybe it was the 18 wheeler that almost killed injured me this morning. (Thank you, Jesus, for Your protection.)

Maybe it's the changing of the seasons.

Maybe it's just life and busy-ness of it all.

But regardless of the reason one thing is true above all.

The joy of the Lord is my strength.

Truly, find Him and make Him your joy.  His love is waiting for you.  Does that mean that the bad stuff will just cease to exist?  Does that mean that life will be easy?  Does that mean that you will never have problems.  No, not at all.  His love doesn't prevent or protect us from every pain or hardship, but He walks with us through every situation.  He gives us faith to endure.

I've decided to stick with Him and I hope you will too.

Much love,
Danette

I could get used to this...

Here's my most recent Pinterest project.  Ok, it's only my second, but I'm making progress.

Here's a link to the original pin.

I'm really enjoying adapting these pins to make my needs.  Plus, by adapting them I can really cut the costs.  For example this project only cost about $3.  It could have cost even less than that if I had used scrapbooking paper that I already had on hand.

I'm using this project on the door to my bedroom.  It looks really great if I do say so myself.

Sweet dreams.

Pinned It, Made It

Who doesn't love Pinterest?  The only problem with Pinterest is that I never do anything that I pin.  I always say that I will, but never do, until now.  That's right!  This past weekend I made not one, but two projects off Pinterest.  I'm only sharing one today but it's so cute!

If you like this pin then you can make it too.  Here's a link to the pin.

If you'd like to follow me on Pinterest here's a direct link to my boards.

My Mom Means the World to Me

I avoided writing about Mother's Day this past week mostly because I was short of time, but I have to tell you, my mom means the world to me.

Over the course of my life my mom and I have had some trying times...like the time I called her a liar for not letting me dye Easter eggs...but my mom has also always...ALWAYS...supported and loved me.

During my senior year of high school I was in two AP classes and marching season for band.  Band in itself was a huge time commitment, but one night I had to stay up until 3:00 in the morning reading "A Tale of Two Cities" for a test the next day.  My mom stayed up the entire night and then got me up at 5:30 the next morning so that I could be at band.  That is true dedication.

Even after I became an "adult" she continued to love and support me.  During my junior year of college I was in a serious bus accident.  I remember coming home from New York and acting like I was fine.  I had a few physical difficulties after the accident, but honestly, I thought that emotionally I was fine.  Then one day I just broke down shaking and crying in the living room of my parents' house.  My mom came over to me and asked what was wrong.  "I don't know," was all I could say.  My mom just held me there and prayed for me.  By the end of the summer she would have done this same thing three different times.  I'm sure that seeing your adult daughter fall apart had to be emotionally wearing on her, but she didn't show it.  She prayed more.  She loved more.  She served more.  That is true dedication.

Because of my strong willed head and my stubborn heart, my mom and I have frequent disagreements, but I know that in all those disagreements she's just challenging me to be more and become a better version of myself for God's glory.

I love you mom and I hope I can demonstrate the same dedication and love that you have shown me when God blesses me with daughters and sons of my own.

Happy Mother's Day, moms.  And to all those moms to someday be, Happy Someday Mother's Day to you!

Worship Band of the Week #10

Here's a clue to a new worship project that just came out.  "The Great I Am" is a compilation of students from Central Bible College in Springfield, Missouri.  I have no doubt that these will change the world.

Here's some videos from that project.

Sometimes you just have to...well...laugh

Found this video and I just had to share with you.

So seriously, sometimes you just have to laugh at life...find joy in the hard times...hold on to the good memories.  We have to celebrate the possibilities of the future and put to rest the failures of the past.

Here's to you and yours...to your happiness.

Mother's Day Gift Guide

I thought I'd share a few special products that would be perfect for the Mother is your life.  Some of them I've tried and some of them I love from afar, but I know that you will love each and every one. :)

I love these Boho Chic hair ties from Knotieties.  They are so cute and soft and they don't rip out your hair.  At $5 they are a inexpensive an investment that you could add them to a Mother's Day basket with other goodies.  Or better yet, stock up.

Another great Mother's Day gift would be a necklace from The Vintage Pearl.  I know that you won't be disappointed with this and she won't either.  One of the greatest things about this gift is that you can personalize your piece of jewelry making it the best form of perfect possible.

If your mom is like my mom she's just learning to text, and she loves it a lot...maybe even too much.  For the techie mom in your life I'm sure you will find that she will love this iPhone cover from LisaWineStudios on Etsy.  I know I do.

That's about all the time I have for now.  I bet that if you get to it you could have all of these orders in time for Mother's Day on May 13th, 2012.

Obsessions

I have this problem...it's really not a problem, but sometimes it can really get in the way.  I like nice things.  I don't have to have a lot of them.  I just like walking through beautiful stores with beautiful things and thinking about how beautiful they are.

As previously mentioned before, one of those beautiful stores I love walking through is Windsor Market in Tulsa.  On one such stroll I found the best cream I've ever put on my hands.

Now you have to understand I have terribly dry skin especially in the winter.  My skin gets so dry that it cracks and bleeds.  Besides being unbecoming it is actually quite painful.  In the past I have tried so many products to try and prevent this from happening, but all to no avail.

Enters Mistral Luxury French Shea Butter Hand Cream

Although normally I would never spend $18 on lotion I tried the sample and now...well...now I'm obsessed.  Not only do I love the way my hands feel, but for once my hands are not in pain due to the cracked, bleeding skin.

Give it a try and I have no doubt that you will love it too!

My favorite scent is Verbena.

I hope that you have a pleasant day and a wonderful week.

Worship Band of the Week: Week #9

I've had this project for quite sometime and I've even listened to it on occasion, but it wasn't until last Saturday when I was walking through the christian bookstore that I really started listening to the words of some of these songs.  I have to say, I've been missing out.

Hope you enjoy...All Sons & Daughters.
