dawns & twilights

Last night I felt it. Honestly, I was slightly surprised. It's been gone for nearly a year, but last night I felt the cool wind of Autumn and I knew she was near.

Autumn brings a great many things with her.  There's the family events soon to come and, of course, the famed Pumpkin Spice Latta. In my life she brings the return of Christmas rehearsals and busy week nights. But more than that, She marks an end that's approaching.

Autumn brings the rain and I love the rain.  She brings the cool.  She brings the color. She brings the warmth of a sweater. She brings family and I love family.

And somehow in the ending I find a new beginning.

Life is much the same way, full of dawns and twilights--the dawning of a new day, the closing of another--but in them all some how there's beauty.

So as twilight begins, just before the long night's sleep, I'll enjoy the rain and the cool and the color and the warmth. I'll enjoy the community of family and the sisterhood of friends. And then, when night creeps in I'll sleep in peace.
